Curator: Amical d'Antics Guerrillers de Catalunya
Exhibition organized by the MUME within the framework of the European project "Exilis 1936-1946" with the collaboration of the Memorial de Ribesaltes.
This exhibition aims to bring to the public the little-known history of the men and women who between 1939 and 1955 maintained the anti-fascist struggle and opened routes from the French border that crossed the Pyrenees to connect with the main Catalan cities and the rest of Spain.
Around these paths between fields, forests and mountains, the guerrillas lived stories of struggle, resistance, sacrifice and human solidarity, in the middle of a devastated country, immersed in a military dictatorship that was struggling between misery, hunger and the most ferocious repression.
The Amical d'Antics Guerrillers de Catalunya has been promoting, for some years now, the recovery of the testimonies of guerrillas linked to the communist maquis who organized different routes of entry and exit from Spain in order to keep the clandestine struggle against the dictatorship alive, despite the enormous difficulties of the military, social and international context.
