🆕The new room "Guillem Comalat, the painter of Requesens" has been inaugurated, on the 1st floor of Can Laporta, as part of the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Requesens Castle.
It includes 10 works by this unknown yet talented artist, who lived at the end of the 19th century. On the street, it is in the "Art Route" format. You can find works reproduced on canvases placed in empty premises on Carrer Major, an economic promotion initiative La Jonquera Comerç ***** that has the support of the Girona Provincial Council with the aim of beautifying the old town of the municipality.
Typhus ended the promising artistic career of the young Comalat, at only 26 years old. We will never know how it would have developed, but what can be said is that some of his paintings are ahead of their time, as can be seen in the agile strokes of "Infants i mainaderes"
Thanks to Jordi Cabezas and Alícia Viñas and to the @museuemporda for their tireless work in protecting this work. And thanks to @emm_la_jonquera for the musical interpretation of this author's unpublished poem
With the support of the Girona Provincial Council
➡️The exhibition can be seen permanently during public opening hours at Can Laporta and on Carrer Major
